Political collaboration
Many cases of collaboration had a much more local significance. In the letters of denunciation, one senses the resentment built up over years of occupation. One can understand the complex relationship maintained by the local authorities - often called into question - and the populations with the German occupier. The quartering of troops in locals’ houses could lead to understandings that were rarely denounced. By contrast, dealings with the German authorities or the military police are foremost among the allegations raised.
