The constraints of everyday life
The population in the occupied territories was subject to strict control. Movement was regulated. People were allowed to move around freely during the day, but gatherings of more than three people were prohibited. To leave the town, it was necessary to obtain a pass from the military authority at the Zentral-Pass. A curfew with a total blackout was strictly enforced under the Germans.
